Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.
-Robert E. Howard, "The Tower of the Elephant"
That's probably right. It was fun following along.

That was a fantastic costume, I was running a fate of the Elder Gods demo during the auction and at one point looked out and saw Christopher facing away from me talking animatedly with someone, while I could hear his voice behind me running the auction.
It threw me for a second before I remembered Jodie was in costume. She had his mannerisms down.

She did the same thing to me while running Spirit Island demos. Totally convincing.

Or, if you prefer to hear about it straight from the horse's mouth, here are Brandon's essays on his first, second, and third laws. They're a bit longer, but excellent reads.

I was once the least interesting member on a panel discussion about science in SFF with James Cambias, and someone asked him what he thought the fundamental difference between fantasy and sci fi was. He answered (to paraphrase) that a fantasy has to have some element of inexplicability to it, be it fate, magic, gods, or whatever. The more one explains a magic system, the more it becomes something like alternative-physics fiction than fantasy. I thought that was an interesting way to look at it.
I still want Sanderson to hurry up and write more of the Stormlight Archive, though.
Yeah, my dad told me about that and then I saw it on the News. Most cool! If there isn't already a planet in that location in Elite Dangerous, I bet they add it in soon...

I went on a whale watch last weekend - we saw a humpback calf breaching! I kept saying, under my breath, "Gracie is pregnant," but nobody took me to see the nuclear wessels.

They should have a birthday-themed one shot. Only thinking this bcuz mine's today, but it's a legitimate idea. Maybe for the anniversary.

Anyone want to dig up the most quoted post? :D
"Do you not know that a man is not dead while his name is still spoken?"

I'd rather not as that became very hard to read.

I suddenly was struck by a strong desire to see a video game whose sound effects and soundtrack are drawn entirely from the Voyager Golden Record.

The mannerisms were totally what did it. The hand in the vest pocket was perfect.

Adam and Paul weren't there, or I would've had them sign it as well. There's always next year.
Didn't know who was there. Hopefully you can get those too.

It's "Talk Like a Pirate Day," so we enjoyed an exciting four-player game of New Bedford! Did anybody else celebrate?
Arr!
Fun bit of information. I am no longer sporting my usual mutton chops. I have instead taken up a goatee.
He's evil!
...just kidding, goatees are awesome.
There is nothing inherently evil about goatees. It's all about how one uses them.
