Mine was definitely Legacy. I'm the type to always go for that "frontman" character in any new game. "What's that? A new Super Smash Bros.? I choose Mario!"
Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.

The first character I played was Wraith, because I thought she had a cool name and looked like a sort of stealthy Rogue-type, which is the character I often play in RPGs. We played a few games (this was at the gaming club I use to go to - the game belonged to one of the guys there, who owned the non-enhanced base set and Rook City as nothing else existed at that point) and I played her every time and had fun :). When I got the game myself, of course, I gave everyone else a go and have new favourites, but I still think the Wraith is cool :).
I had brought my wife to a local boardgame day, and there were only 5 other people there for the first few hours and they were playing the new Sentinels game. So it was just my wife and me plaing a card game for a couple of hours to wait for a turn, but they played that game several times without telling us or including us. So we left.
A couple of months later, I got over my hating this game for ruining my saturday plans and gave it a try. I played Legacy, because I was told he was easy to learn and always helpful to have in the group. Looking back, I kind of understand now why everyone was so obsessed with the game that day.
Anyone can game alone, but it is much more fun to game with friends.
My first time playing was with Absolute Zero, mostly because my friend described him as "the guy who punches himself in the nuts and then cool stuff happens." Still pretty spot on if you ask me.
That game was against Citizen Dawn in Atlantis. It's still one of my favorite go-to matches.
Tachyon was first for me. We fought Baron Blade at Megalopolis. I remember having a good laugh at the Neil Patrick Harris references in her flavor text.

A little late to the conversation, but my first hero was Tempest as well. I was at Gen Con 2011 and hadn't played any games there for about two days (my first time going and not a board gamer at the time). I'm sitting down when Paul ran up to my friends and me, saying "Hey, anyone want to demo a game? We need one more person." I said sure, and now here I am.
Just like Andy, I checked out their Facebook page later that night and saw the pictures with captions like "Finally, the reveal of our special card! Young Legacy!" I had the same thought of "Oh that's cute. They're making a big deal about these reveals on a page with ~100 fans. At least they're trying. Maybe I'll play this game a few times, but I'll probably get sick of these four villains."
Flash forward five years...
"I've still got to make plans for my Void Guard Idealist cosplay, talk to Craig about working the whole of Gen Con for them, playtest that new material, discuss Foote's latest theory on the forums, make Becky Blast into my next pen & paper RPG character, and meet up with my friends later to continue our Advanced-Challenge-Mode-Flawless-Victory campaign tonight!"

Awesome story.
My first was Ra, back in 2012. One of my friends brought the game to game night, and we played a 4 player game. I fell in love with it. I thought it could be the game that could give me my superhero gaming fix. Then he didn't bring it back for 2 years, and it fell off my radar...
Fast forward to 2014. He asked what games he could bring, and a vague recollection of liking the game prompt me to suggest SotM. He did bring it back, I played Ra yet again, and fell back in love with the game. This time, I bought a copy of the game myself. The rest, as they say, is history.
At least this time we don't have to rely on centuries old calendars for a date and instead have a nice green banner at the top of every page giving us a precise date and time.

So... I am doing job searches and my pull down box brought up suggestions for things I might want to type in the keyword search. Top of the list was Sentinels of the Multiverse!
And my first thought was "I wonder who is hiring them?"

My first Fanatic b/c I liked her concept. She is one of my favs to this day, but its impossible to beat Devra and Tach.

What's your favorite non-canon 5player team? Mine would be Devra, Tach, Paul, Helena, and your favorite (I usually go with Ra or Argent)

So yesterday I was playing Dungeon of the Endless, and there's a character in there based on the Team Fortress 2 character Pyro, except I spent the whole game mispronouncing it (and then correcting myself) as Pydro.

My first Character was the Argent Adept.
The guy showing me it described him as a bard, and then told me he was too complex for a first game, so of course I played him.
I don't play him very often anymore, but he is still one of my favorites.

Never beat it, got to the last "boss" sometimes but I always fell out of that area and back in the main table before I could beat them.
I also played Dr Robobotnik's Mean Bean Machine, I was horrible at that.
