There's an update that names the artist, Steffen Brand: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gtgames/spirit-island/posts/1362906
It's a little surprising his name wasn't featured more prominently in this latest update.
Oh, awesome! He is great.
I think those mysterious markings must be homes of some of the spirits. The divisions between the territories aren't always clear on that image, but I assume that's because this is the image before processing.
That is gorgeous, and huge. I like how the icons appear on it, and the layout of the landscape.
That looks great. Will the normal (non-canonical) tiles have a similar artistic look to them, or did the final product stick with the patterns we saw during playtesting?

It's been said in a couple of places that the regular tiles will have a simpler and less artistic design than the canonical map, because while the more decorative map is beautiful, it is also it harder to read, and makes the board more cluttered. While the regular tiles might not be exactly the same patterns that we saw, they will be much closer to those than they will be to the canonical map.

Arcanist Lupus is correct!
We'll have a lot more final inconography to show people in the next month or two; we've been waiting for the final artwork to come in for Spirit Island, which is taking a long time. Wow is this game art intensive!

Me, too, I'm excited to see how these maps look in final game board form!
Hey speak for yourself. I'm more than ready to start waiting impatiently.
