In honor of Lillian becoming a hero (pure speculation at this point), we are going to have an SotM poetry contest!
She began writing dark poetry and allied herself with a group of teenagers that called themselves The Undead Poet Society.
In honor of Lillian, the poem should be dark, and based on anything SotM (characters, setting, etc.)
Formatting
Because the forum ruins any sort of formatting, there are going to be some rules.
-Please submit your poem in a Google Doc. If you don’t have access to Google Docs, PM me, and I will set one up for you.
-At the top of the page should be the title of your poem, but not your name.
-You have free reign on the formatting (e.g. location, spacing, size, color, etc.), but, please, no pictures.
-The poem cannot be longer than 1 page.
-The name of your Doc should be: SotM Event #19: (YOUR NAME). This should not be on the page itself.
Submitting
-To submit your entry, send me a link with the Doc on it.
-I will copy your entire page into a master Doc for easy reading. I am going to use “select all”, so please make it easy to copy by no having your name on the page.
-After submitting your entry, I will send you a link to view the master Doc.
Judging
-I will send the Doc to GtG for judging. Their decision is based on which one they like the best, and what sort of bribes they received.
-Your poem should not have your name attached while judging. Only include it in the name of your Doc.
Deadline
-You will have until 3-12 (about three week) to write your poem.
-I will release the Doc to the forum after the deadline (NO CHEATING!)
Prize
GtG will perform a dramatic reading of the winning poem and upload it to YouTube.
Good luck! Have fun! If you have any questions, please ask.
Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.
-Robert E. Howard, "The Tower of the Elephant"
Yay! I can't wait for the judging on this one.

Awesome!
I can't write for toffee, but bad poetry I could have a crack at.
Just assume I'm always doing that.
Damn it, Ronway!
This will be fun.

KNYFE's hair is red.
Omnitrons are blue.
La Capitan would be great
if it didn't have you.
Now that's dark!
Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.
-Robert E. Howard, "The Tower of the Elephant"
Just end the thread now, Ronway has already won.
...
Although, Poetry about Pydro there Ronway? You're a few days late.
Stop lurking, it makes you look like a villain target
When you do things right, people won’t be sure you’ve done anything at all

Submitted my poem!
"Do you not know that a man is not dead while his name is still spoken?"
- Terry Pratchett, Going Postal
Are multiple submissions allowed? I have a few ideas on ways to go with this, and wanted to know if I should be focusing on one.
"To such simple minds, my advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic!"
Focus on one, please.
Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.
-Robert E. Howard, "The Tower of the Elephant"
Can I still submit mine even though I posted it here?
You can submit whatever you want.

Everyone should submit things!

Let me sing you a song of a lad
Who entered a contest Pydro had
But there's not much judging to do
When the number of entries is two
and isn't that really so sad?
"Do you not know that a man is not dead while his name is still spoken?"
- Terry Pratchett, Going Postal
You see two entries
And crown yourself the victor?
Now witness my art!
"To such simple minds, my advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic!"
What I said was that judging was slight
My intent was to not cause a fight
With more entries than one
there will be judging done
But more entries are better, am I right?
"Do you not know that a man is not dead while his name is still spoken?"

Perhaps this exchange
Will draw still more to compete!
Time for more haikus.
"To such simple minds, my advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic!"
The haiku is a very short thing
and while I'm sure that its praises you'll sing
I don't care to express
my ideas in much less
than five lines and two rhymes and a zing.
"Do you not know that a man is not dead while his name is still spoken?"
- Terry Pratchett, Going Postal
These poetic quips are just so absurd.
I'm not going to take part in this farse.
I hope you had fun, but this is the last
that you'll see of my resplendent bantor.
Good ideas are usually just bad ideas a stubborn person eventually fixed.
Good sirs! What words are slung in this forum?
That such provencial rhymes are shared in jest.
I have but one concern that on this day,
Your cards are played, in sooth, far from your vest.
"Your goodness must have some edge to it — else it is none."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
And when Christopher spoke, the thread did it stop.
For his words were true and always sublime.
They ended the strife shedding not one drop
of ink which for an artist is the greatest crime.
Good ideas are usually just bad ideas a stubborn person eventually fixed.
Just a reminder to get your submissions in by the 3-12 deadline!

1 day left before I send it off to GtG for judging. If you want to enter, now is the time!

The master sheet has been sent to GtG for judging.

How long 'til the judging is done
and we get to learn who is the one
who's rhyme will be heard
read out word for word?
this game has been ever so fun.

Christopher and I are going over the poems very soon. He's been in full-on design mode, so we want to get to a point where he can be distracted for a bit.

Any news on this?

Oh, it's coming. You won't be disappointed.

Greetings, poets and poetry aficionados alike.
The poems have been judged, and it was very difficult to come to a conclusion of just one winner. However, since I had to read the winning poem on camera, we weren't going to declare a tie - that would be twice as much poetry for me to recite and that's far too much. That said, there were many excellent entries and we enjoyed them all.
Here is my dramatic reading of the winning entry:

Well done, everyone.

I just realized I never posted all the poems to the forums. Here you go!

If only I were more a poet and submitted something. That was an awesome video.
Crush your enemies, drive them before you, and laminate their women! - Guise, Prime Wardens #31
Were you wearing eyeliner?
Just assume I'm always doing that.
Damn it, Ronway!
Same reason I was wearing a silly poofy shirt.
Dramatic. Reading.

Good work, poets!
Hi. My name's Andy. Feel free to call me Andy, since, ya know, that's my name. (he/him/his)

metlarcturus achieved the victory.
I was just checking that I hadn't dreamed it. I mean, I totally approve.
Just assume I'm always doing that.
Damn it, Ronway!
A reserved silence and contemplative nod in your direction.
Well done all.
Apologies for being all silent and mysterious; I missed seeing the updates somehow!
Thank you all for your warm reception of my poetry! I plan to expand it into a full-length tragedy, entitled Titus Omnitronicus. Expect a stage production (starring Christopher as Omnitronicus X) to hit the Globe by next spring.
Those were some great submissions, fellow poets. I am especially fond of "The Moonfall Villanelle."
"To such simple minds, my advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic!"
Hah, thanks, that one was mine. Yours was way better, though.
Semper ludens.
