Okay, Ja'Ph' is off on the 24th of this month so we can do that weekend - can't do the 31st as he is working. But the 24th is better for me as it turns out I do definitely have a new job and I'm starting on the 26th...at 7am, so this'll be the last month I can stay over Ja'Ph's till Monday morning, lol.
Okay, I can make a day trip out of SquiggleCon and therefore avoid paying for expensive London accommodation which I can't afford. It'll be six or seven hours of travelling, but what the hell.
I have two choices for return times from Victoria: 8.30pm and 11.30pm. I know you guys finish late afternoon, but will there be something to entertain me in the evening? Trying to work out if it's worth getting the later coach, and I guess indirectly asking if anyone's up for food and geeky chat after games...
Yay! Then I will book the later coach. It will be awesome to catch up. :)
I'm sure we could find food, I hear London has these new-fangled places where you can exchange pieces of paper and/or small metal discs for nourishment and a temporary place to consume said nourishment in. It'll never catch on, but we could try that.

Your information is accurate but outdated. Some people still use paper and discs, but a lot of us now put flat rectangles of plastic into a machine, press a few buttons, then take our plastic rectangles back and leave.

The plastic "rectangles," as you call them, are actually just boxes full of tiny metal discs. A few get poured into the machine when you use them.
Booked my (and Ja'Ph's) place a few minutes ago :). We will have to leave a bit earlier than usual from now on, however, as the job I have now starts at 7:30am which means getting up at about half six, which means I can't stay over Ja'Ph's house on Sunday night like I normally do so will have to go straight home from Victoria after we've had dinner.
There is an England u21 game kicking off at 5pm I'm planning to catch, but if it helps to get three games going, do people want me to bring my cards + counters?
Probably no need for your cards, as there are more than enough cards in the set for three games. Tokens might be an idea, though as three games would stretch those.
Directions for those unfamiliar with the location.
Get to Liverpool Stret station.
Take the exit by McDonalds. Keep McD on your left, along with the evacuee statue.
Cross the road and turn right. There's the Railway Tavern. We'll be upstairs, or if it's before 11, outside waiting for them to open amidst the other gamers. I'll be in a Sentinels t-shirt so should be fairly visible.
I realised just now that my coach ticket into London was for today, rather than yesterday. I have no idea how I managed that. I blame Ronway. Anyway I've booked a correct ticket now, and luckily I realised in time to sort things out.
This does mean that I'll be an hour late, probably a bit more than an hour, but you're used to me being late, right?
Thanks to everyone that came out - it was great to get to meet you all in person! And to those who couldn't make it, hopefully there will be a next time before too long. Or, feel free to schedule one in Chicago (it's only a measly 8-hour flight).
Ok, as no one's responding, I'm using my base power "Herd Cats": Unless people object, the next Sentinels Day will be Sunday 26th July at the Railway Tavern.
Sorry, yes, I was meaning to post here. Ja'Ph has a new manager at work and they're taking ages to sort his rota this month. I'm busy on the 18th so was gonna suggest the 26th anyway. I just don't know for sure whether we can make it yet, because I don't know if Ja'Ph' will be off yet. He's gonna ask about it, though.
Yup, I have signed up for it. Ja'Ph' still hasn't been told when he's working so he's just gonna tell them he's taking Sunday off and that they should've got back to him sooner if they wanted him to work it :D.
Cool, that means we don't need to leave as early :D. Hopefully they won't decide to do a whole load of engineering works on the train lines we all use - that's always the down side of doing anything around a Bank Holiday, isn't it :P.
Have signed up for Sunday :). Would've done it last night but I'd ended up playing many hours of Sentinels with my sister and her boyfriend - she'd nt really expressed an interest before but he was up for it when I first told him about it a while back so we've played a few games now and then. Yesterday he persuaded her to join in and she actually got into it and stuff and we played a whole bunch of (mostly unsuccessful) games. We beat Miss Info, then got beaten by Lilian, Voss, Skinwalker Gloomy (first time ever for me - we didn't evne flip him :() and the Ennead. The latter got out about four more members in the first couple of rounds and we whittled them down, then we had Osiris on 2hp and Shu on erm, about 15 or something. As Omni-10, I Singularitied all my stuff (no-one else had any equipment, Sky-Scraper and Captain Cosmic, or I'd've had one of those as well) to flip Osiris and get Shu down to 1hp. And then Nuit came out. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu...
And Tefnut came out later as well, once it was just Captain Cosmic left and he clawed his way slowly to the final mercy of a slow and painful defeat, lol.
Next Sentinels Sunday is the 27th unless there's an objection. Also, new venue alert! We are now at the Bavarian Beerhouse, The Arches, 9 Crutched Friars, Tower Hill, EC3N 2AU. Also starting from 12 not 11, so changes all round.
Cool, Ja'Ph' is off that weekend so we were gonna ask if it could be then anyway :). We'll still have to leave earlier, though, as I'll have work the following day, so the fact it starts an hour later is a bit of a bummer. Oh well. I looked up the place on Google Maps (having never heard of it) and it looks like it's not-very-far from Tower Hill, which we pass through en route to Liverpool Street anyway so that should be easy enough to get to :).
Yup, remembered this time and went and signed up for it a few minutes ago. I had forgotten it's at a different place so hopefully I'll remember that on Saturday evening when we're sorting out our train times :D.
There's no meetup the last Sunday this month (25th). Do people want to meet up on the 18th (Bavarian Beerhouse as last time with the long thin tables) or the 1st November (back in the Railway Tavern)?
Ja'Ph's gonna check his days off but so far we're thinking maybe the 1st is more likely (plus we prefer the Railway to the Beerhouse). I'll post again when he's confirmed :).
This probably means I have to try to make an appearance too. How likely this is, I don't know.
Just assume I'm always doing that.
Damn it, Ronway!

Yes. It's required. Besides, everybody's doing it. You know you want to. (does peer pressure work on adults?)
Are you assuming you're my peer? ;)
For some reason, I feel a strange urge to go to London next month. I have no idea why...
I'll have to have a think about money. The transport's not so bad, but accommodation's expensive and I'm poor. We'll see.
Just assume I'm always doing that.
Damn it, Ronway!
OK, I'm in on the 24th - well I will be when sign-ups open!
Sign up opens tomorrow for the 24th. See you all next week

I'll answer, I'd love to do that, no idea where we can eat around there but it's a thing that can be done.

Rectangles? Machines? Buttons? That sounds way too complicated to me. I now have to rethink my entire existence...

7 Sentinel gamers already. As Matt is likely to sign up, can we break the previous record and get 3 games of Sentinels at once?

Sometimes, I wish I could justify the rail fare from Liverpool to London!

You're doing better than me - I've twisted my ankle so I can't do much walking today, and can't get to the pub. Hope you all have a good time

Ok, time to sort out the July Sentinels day:
Saturdays are at the Frog (John Adams Street, Near charring Cross and Embankment), Sundays at the Railway Tavern as usual.

Sentinels day on my birthday
Unfortunately I will be approximately a thousand miles away at the time without my Sentinels cards to hand, hope it's another great gaming day!
