Game reports: Vengeful vs Freedom Five, Freedom Tower

The two games were both played as the Vengeful Five vs the Freedom Five at the Freedom Tower. The first game was a narrow loss. Baron Blade's forces achieved an Entry Point into the tower through Legacy's Landing Pad, and then later achieved two more entry points in Wraith's Arsenal and another location (I think it may have been the lobby!) Needless to say, once the VF were past the perimeter defenses it was much harder. Nevertheless, first blood went to the F5 who took out Proletariat. But for each villain who fell, a defender of freedom also paid the ultimate price. Finally it was just Ermine and Wraith left, but Baron Blade's poisonous power polished off Wraith. Least valuable defender was Bunker, who dithered and was ineffective.

The second game was a win, with no hero ever having HP in the single digits (although everyone came close). The approach of the villains was detected in the Securty Station and the Control Center was soon activated as well. Distracted by Ermine's Constant Prattle, the villains failed to secure any Entry Points. Legacy provided inspirational leadership, increasing everyone's damage. Bunker's Gatling Gun and Flak Cannon chewed up villains and set them up for others to finish off. Tachyon's sonic booms prevented a lot of damage from the villains. Wraith did a lot of damage with her throwing knives, often finishing off major and minor villains set up by Bunker and Tachyon. ABZ hung out in his Cryo-Chamber and mostly tanked damage, although he laid some major hurt on Fright Train towards the end, letting Legacy finish him off with a loud "Thokk!" The freedom five took out the villains in reverse turn order: Proletariat, Ermine, Friction, Fright Train, and finally Baron Blade. Bunker was charging up his Omni-Cannon for a death blow against Baron Blade but Blade wounded him with a poison dart, and Wraith took Blade down instead.

Observations: In the second game the environment definitely gave the Freedom Five a huge home-team advantage. Ermine's Constant Prattle causing two(!) copies of Entry Point to be discarded was absolutely huge. The strategy of taking out the villains one at a time worked well, and I think it best to take out those villains who aren't much of a threat when disabled (like Proletariat) first is the best option. Baron Blade and Fright Train are quite nasty even when out of play. BB had two Impulsion Beams out early, crippling Tachyon and causing problems for Legacy and Wraith. The team took out the impulsion beams, but otherwise left BB alone until it was time to take out the last bag of trash.
