I'm sure that all depends on what you want from your Bond.  Connery's got the 1960s misogynist charm, Moore's got the goofy/coolest gadgets, Brosnan's got the steely suaveness, and Craig's got blonde hair.

For me personally, Dalton is the worst (if you don't count Lazenby).  He never seemed cool and his movies are some of the boringest while simultaneously being the most outrageous (I'm sure it was quite a feat to get that semi-truck to go up on half its wheels to dodge a missile, but come on.  It's a truck dodging a missile).  Maybe it's just his bad luck to have been Bond during the '90s.

But you probably have just as subjective reasons for why you think Dalton's the best.  Bring them forth.

Moore for sure.  It's not just that his gadgets are goofy, the entire movies are goofy in the best possible way.  There's a tongue-in-cheek charm about them that just hasn't been matched by any other Bond.  Moonraker is a particular favorite for how incredibly ridiculous it is, and for how little it has to do with the book it's based on.   JAWS IN SPACE!

I'm not sure I've ever actually seen any of these movies, but based on clips and advertisements, I just can't really imagine any Bond other than Pierce Brosnan.  He just does the "suave secret agent" thing to perfection by my standards.  I'm glad that Daniel Craig got the new Bond movies though, because it probably led to him being cast as Lord Asriel in the Golden Compass movie, and I find it hard to imagine anyone else in that role.

Edit - The only other Bond I'm even slightly familiar with is Connery, and as with Brosnan, this is a product of me having grown up in the 90's...to me, Sean is a dignified old greybeard, not a slick youthful seducer.  He just looks wrong to me in all the Bond movies.  I accept that this is completely subjective and shallow of me.

My ordering: Brosnan, Craig, Connery, Dalton (who gets a boost for being the first Bond I saw in the theater), Moore. I haven't seen OHMSS, regrettably.

None.

Probably just me, but Bond has always been that sexist, arrogant character that I haven't liked.

But then I also don't like Kirk for the same reason. Yeah, I'm a weird geek... (Mal's my captain.)

You might enjoy In Like Flint then.

Picard here (actually Sisko, but the argument is always Kirk vs. Picard, nobody seems to care about any of the others).  Kirk was okay, but from my modern perspective on what the Federation was all about, I could never quite figure out why Starfleet would put up with such a scoundrel running their flagship.  Picard, though?  His style of captaincy absolutely SCREAMS "this is the enlightened future, when Earth has become completely civilized and joined the great interstellar community", which to me is what Star Trek in particular (rather than just "sci-fi"...the "strange new worlds" shtick works on any show involving any sort of transporation device) is all about.

I don't know your feelings on Abrams Trek, Envisioner, but I think you might like this.

I've enjoyed Bond movies, but kinda like Rabit said, I've never really fallen in love with the character for all the reasons Rabit mentioned.  If I had to pick, I'd said that Brosnan comes off the least arrogant, but I liked him better in Thomas Crowne Affair than in any of the 007s.

If I had to pick a Star Trek captain, it would be Picard, but I would pick Mal over him.  Picard seems a little too "together" for me; I prefer characters that are more broken in some way.  As a result, Picard became a little more likeable to me after the borg abduction, but I'd still prefer Mal.

I liked Dalton as Bond. He got the short straw when it came to the films themselves, in some regards (though compared to a few others, there could be a long argument in favour of Licence to Kill). He had that sort of dangerous charm that Connery could sometimes exude. Problem was, I think he arrived at a time when 'gritty' was in, and that dates very quickly without some substance behind it.

Anyway, it'd be hard to replace Connery as the original, but I liked Brosnan (though his films were a bit hit-and-miss) and Craig makes a very good Bond for a new era. The character-focused story-telling and style of action is a refreshing change, and Craig carries it well. Though, I must say I was a little disappointed with Skyfall.

I was not terribly fond of the first one, but I really enjoyed STID, albeit that the ending was kinda lame.  I don't much care for the level of snark in the Honest Trailers series though.

I can't stand the Star Trek Reboot.

When I watch I keep waiting for someone to step up and be a rational human being, but apparently Earth somehow became great by putting reckless idiots in charge of everything important.

Well, yeah...I mean, which Earth were you thinking of?  Certainly not the one I live in....

back on track

Connery, Craig, Moore, Brosnan

Connery is ...  yes. That man is an excellent actor and my major mancrush. And his bond is a great blend of action, gadget, and romance. Craig is the same, if you ignore quantum of solace. Casion Royal was great, and Skyfall was just amazing in my eyes. Moore brings the best of the suave less action more amazing bond, and brosnan is the best of the action blowing things up (though I'm still mad he had a BMW not an Astin Martin but thats OK.)

Casino Royale was an exciting movie and a great kickoff into Craig's "prequel" trilogy.  People complain that the movie didn't capture the full spirit of Bond, but I always argued it was because Casino was supposed to take place when Bond was still fresh as a 00 agent; that spirit of Bond didn't exist yet and what is left is something more raw than suave.  I thought it fit perfectly.

Quantum of Solace was, unfortunately, a product of the writers' strike that took place a handful of years ago; the production team basically admitted that fact, apologized, and promised that Skyfall would make up for it tenfold.  And they definitely delivered.

Overall, I have to say Craig is my favorite Bond.  I know the general population's opinion is eager to dismiss him, proposing that the classics are irreplacable.  But personally, I'm not that nostalgic.  I love Connery and Dalton; From Russia with Love is among my top movies of all time.  But, when I look at what the Craig trilogy accomplished (despite Quantum of Solace's shortcomings), I can't help but be completely enthralled with it.

I'm not the biggest or most knowledgeable Bond fan, but from the little I've seen Craig seems to be the most relateable, while still being pretty badass at the same time.

Covalent is pretty cool too. Not a fan of Ionic, though.

McBehrer is the sole winner of this game... And McBehrer, I would step carefully should you find your way down dark alleys. More than one vote said simply, "McBehrer must die."

McBehrer confirmed to be Biomancer!

Several years back, the high school where I used to teach put "The name is Bond. Ionic Bond." on the front of the Science Olympiad team's t-shirts. The back read "Taken, not shared."

Craig is also closest to the book character.
