The story of Vengeance

It occurred to me today that Vengeance is probably Sentinel Comics's answer to Marvel's Secret Wars - presumably most if not all of the villains are presumed to have premiered in other comics, and Vengeance was them all coming back as part of Blade's master plan.  Anyone else have similar thoughts?  I'm trying to imagine a story epic enough to require this many freaking characters in it, and it's quite a tall order....

I'd liken it more to Marvel's "Acts of Vengeance" storyline, which was specifically about various villains teaming up and trading off to taken down the Avengers one-by-one.

A similar storyline took place in the recent animated film Justice League: Doom, which dealt with very similar themes.  It was based loosely on the "Tower of Babel" storyline, replacing Ra's al-Ghul with Vandal Savage.
