SotM Event - 21 Heroes

I thought it was time to start another event!!!

For this event, you will have a pool of 21 heroes to go up against 5 villains. You can divide the them any way you want, but each hero can only be used once. You decide if you use 3, 4, or 5 heroes for each match, and what order the heroes are in.

Only base versions of the heroes should be used, not variants.

In order to somewhat counteract the randomness of the draw, each match will be the best of 3 games. Please play the same set of heroes each time, but you may change their turn order between matches.

Please post your matches in this thread, as well as submitting them using this form. Please use this sheet to see a summary of the matches.

If you have any questions, please ask (or PM me).

Have fun!

Interesting challenge!  When I get home this evening I'll crunch the numbers and determine the mathematically optimal solution.

I’ll give this a go at some point this week.   I’m curious what made you choose these 21 though.

Hit random on the app until I got 21 heroes. Same thing with the villains and environments.

Fun! I attempted to scope out the best match-ups for each fight, but that got unfun pretty quickly, so I decided to wing the teams.

I started with AZ, Nightmist, Parse, Haka, and the Sentinels against Infinitor in Rook City. 2-0, but the second match was incredibly tense.

Absolute Zero wasn't a ton of help in either match, and in the second he didn't manage to get his transducer in play. Parse was around to help with irreducible damage, but was taken out fairly early in the second match, and the Sentinels were stuck with only minor healing cards for the majority of both games.

So no one really rose to the occasion or showed off their best selves, but through careful play and a little luck, I was able to pull out a victory in game two with only the Sentinels still standing and five manifestations in play.

The first match went mostly smoothly. First two environment card plays were obsidian field, so the heroes were racking up lots of damage. Absolute Zero went without his modules for most of the game, but had Impale and Cold Snap in play and was doing a very consistant amount of damage. Argent Adept showed off his amazing healing powers and was very difficult to take out.

The second wasn't nearly as easy, with two River of Lavas and Primordial Plantlife causing a lot of damage. Argent Adept didn't tap into his healing, but kept ahead of the Bunker and Benchmark due to them consistantly damaging themselves.

I forgot to do screenshots on the rest of the matches I did today.

Expatriette, Fanatic,Haka, and Legacy versus Citizen Dawn in The Block. The heroes won both matches. While the first match didn't see any means to destroy an Ongoing and both Return with the Dawns were in play, the damage output was so great that every Citizen coming into play was quickly re-extinguished. The second match saw the use of Savage Mana, though the round I would have used it Devastating Aurora was played. The heroes were still able to deal out 30 points of damage that round for the win anyway.

Mainstay, Mister Fixer, NightMist, Omnitron-X versus Infinitor in Rook City. Both matches ended identically, NightMist in Mist Form with all other heroes incapacitated.

Parse, Ra, The Sentinels, and Setback versus The Dreamer in Time Cataclysm. Lost one of the matches due to double Dark Hero and no one was drawing anything to get passed the DR. The other two were signifcantly better as I actually drew damaging cards.

Sky-Scraper, Tachyon, Tempest, The Wraith, and Writhe versus The Matriarch in Temple of Zhu Long. Between the multiple ways to prevent The Matriarch from dealing damage and the mass area damage she didn't really have much of a chance. And with the party relying mostly on Equipment cards Horrid Cacophony barely did anything when it was played.

Writhe, Expat, and Wraith won against the Dreamer in two attempts.  In both games I only came across one Dark Hero and I was able to despose of them quickly.

Legacy, Mainstay, Tempest, and Tachyon won 2 out of 3.  The first one was close and if I had Environment destruction I might have won.

Forget "Ra" is in "Wraith", spreadsheet should be fixed now.

Defeated Apostate with AZ, Bunker, Haka, Fanatic, and Mr Fixed 2-0.  AZ in the first game didn’t get any modules until late but I did find SubZero Atmosphere to be quite handy against Apostate in that game and the second as it prevented Corrupted Effigy from getting Runes of Malediction from entering play.

Defeated Citizen Dawn with Setback, Omnitron-X, Nightmist, Parse, and the Sentinels 2-0.   Of note the guards in both games ended up causing Dawn to flip but thankfully with Parse I was able to make sure it didn’t last long.

As a side note I entered a game by mistake without selecting an outcome for the match so please remove if you can Pydro

Argent Adept, Ra, Sky-Scraper, and Benchmark defeated Matriarch 2-0.   Only oddity to me in this was that the cards dealt to me meant Sky-Scraper mostly stayed tiny both games.

It looks that way based on results so far.   However, I’d say overall they weren’t a breeze to win especially Infinitor.
