A friend and i will be running a participation game at the Plymouth (England) Wargames Show next February. I wondered if anyone could recommend which scenario would be best to run for players with no previous experience. Preferably one with a chance of the players winning as well.
The forums moved on March 1, 2021. Please read this page for more information.
Do you need to run a scenario in the demo, or could you just run a skirmish?

For demos at Cons, GTG has been primarily running skirmishes. (A skirmish is just a head-on, 3-on-3 or 2-on-2 fight.) The first team to take their opponents to 3 incapacitations, wins.
(If they need to turn over tables faster, they'll stop at 2, but you probably won't have that situation.)
The location/layout they use is THE VALLEY OF DEATH!!! (Sorry, the name just has to be shouted in announcer-voice. ) It uses the Insula Primalis tiles, except the volcano, turning all the mountain tiles to form an outer ring. The opposing sides start on opposite, outer tiles and can start anywhere on those tiles. (We tried having them start at the outer edge of the tiles, but that created some issues with folks like Bunker not being able to get into the fight quickly enough.) Those starting tiles can't have jungle on them. (There are two tiles that are specifically used, but I don't have access to the info here at the office. I'll try to get it when I get home...)
The center tile is the flat, jungle tile, and it's turned so that no one has visibility between the two starting tiles.
We usually them choose from Baron Blade, Bunker, Tachyon, Legacy, Ra, and Wraith. (Sometimes Beacon was thrown in as an option, also.)

Skirmish could be fine. I'll give it a try using your recommended setup and see how it goes. Thanks for your help.
