It seems to me that a hero can have 2 copies of the same equipment card in play, as long as the cards don't say "Limited" on them. My question then is does the hero receive benefits from each card? For example, if Wraith has 2 copies of Mega-computer out is each instance of damage directed at her from the environment reduced by 2?

Yes, multiple copies of cards give multiple benefits, no matter if they are equipment or not. In your example Mega computer would reduce the damage by 2. Another example would be Haka's ongoing card Dominion, it's not limited either so he would draw 1 card for each copy of it in play when an environment card was destroyed.
And just to point out that Mega Computer doesn't reduce damage to just Wraith, it's board-wide damage reduction, heroes, villains, other environment targets...
