Halifax Sentinel Tactics Tournament - July 18th

On Saturday July 18th, The Board Room Game Cafe is hosting a Sentinel Tactics tournament. There are prizes to be had!

If you're interested in learning how to play the game, I'm hosting a learn to play session this afternoon (Saturday July 11th), and we have a regular Sentinels night Monday at 7 pm as well. Both of these events are at The Board Room. If you can't make either but are still interested in learning, let me know and perhaps we can arrange another time this week.

If I lived in Halifax I'd join you.  Hope it goes well.

Good luck. I hope you'll post some details about the games -- what characters were banned, drafted, etc.

The official tournament rules don't include bans, so I'm not sure we're going to do that. But I'll attempt to record as much as possible!

The tournament is complete and here is the report!

We had 6 players and so we split up into 3 teams of two players each. We still played 3 vs 3 in the normal format however.

Round 1

  • The Caffeinators drafted The Operative, The Wraith, and Baron Blade
  • Team Ginger drafted Unity, Legacy, and Citizen Dawn
  • Winner: Team Ginger 3-1

Round 2

  • Arnolabra drafted Tachyon, Citizen Dawn, and Beacon
  • Team Ginger drafted Unity, The Operative, and Legacy
  • Winner: Team Ginger 2-1

Round 3

  • The Caffeinators drafted The Wraith, Tachyon, and Citizen Dawn
  • Arnolabra drafted Bunker, Ambuscade, and Omnitron
  • Winner: The Caffeinators (default)
  • Note: Due to a heinous rules screwup at the beginning of the game that we only noticed at the very end, Arnolabra forfeit the game rather than play it all over again. For some reason we thought Rigged Explosives get placed when the card enters play, and took advantage of that in a way that should have been possible.

Final Round

  • The Caffeinators drafted The Wraith, Tachyon, and Citizen Dawn
  • Team Ginger drafted Baron Blade, The Visionary, and Legacy
  • Winner: Team Ginger 3-1
  • Note: We only played one game in the finals due to time.

Congrats to Team Ginger on the win! And much thanks to Greater Than Games for the tournament pack with info & prizes, and to The Board Room Game Cafe for hosting the event.

Thanks for the recap.

Like the map. Was there a lot of trying to control the center tower? I can imagine that putting Visionary on top of that could be quite useful.

The tower played a big part in the tactics around making and breaking line of sight mostly. It's a useful spot to be on top of for someone like Visionary or Bunker, but also a bit dangerous. Usually the fighting would end up on one side or the other -- and if at the top, that little line of sight "gully" between the tower and the cover would be a pivotal spot.
