Yes -- I use penny sleeves. I used them first to slide in errata sheets for my first edtion cards (minor updates, language consistency, artwork for environments), and then the rest of the expansions got penny sleeved because they were feeling jealous.
I use UltraPro Sleeves - 2 5/8 x 3 5/8", and they seem to fit just fine.
Can I say somethin' about destiny? Screw destiny!.... 'Cause destiny is just another word for inevitable, and nothing's inevitable as long as you stand up, look it in the eye, and say, "You're evitable!" Fred Burkle

There was none? Did the cards have more flavor text or something?
"I'm starting to feel comic books lack realism."
"Master of Understatement: Level Up!"

I have attached an image of a environment card from the 1st edition.
I don't sleeve my pennies. They seem pretty durable. Besides, they just sit in a jar anyway.
