Kickstarter Update #37

We get a look at a production copy. Woohoo!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gtgames/spirit-island/posts/1896797

This game looks like it comes with a ton of stuff. I'm looking forward to seeing the art and getting to try my first play.

Thanks, Paul, for taking a quick break out of your jet-setting to show us these photos.

I heartily agree with all of that. I've got friends I really want to try this with, and am afraid I'm possibly going to end up moving before it happens.

I'm even more excited for Spirit Island than I am for Oblivaeon. It looks so cool!

The story section at the back of the rulebook sounds particularly interesting.

I'm super, super psyched for this. I can't get enough of this game. Though, I have grown so attached to my metal hardware for the invaders and glass beads for energy and fear, I don't know if I'm going to be able to switch to the plastic sculpts and cardboard tokens.

Silverleaf reporting for reprogramming.

Just assume I'm always doing that.

Damn it, Ronway!

Spirit Island was the first non-Sentinels related game from GtG that really gripped me and has me excitedly awaiting its arrival. Though an overall quiet campaign, every utterance has been a positive one from my home!

Having just played with a finished copy, you will not be disappointed.

I am incredibly excited for Spirit Island.

First game I've ever backed higher than needed to get the game play material.  I can't wait to play it.  I've played the (really well designed) demo, and am dying to dig into the rest of the game.

The game's good enough that even if it looked and felt terrible* I would still love it. It's just a great tight game and incredibly satisfying.

Of course it doesn't look and feel terrible.

Can I ask which demo you've played? (For planning for the upcoming conventions...)

From the pictures, it looks like the expansion will not fit into the box without removing at least part of the insert.

Having now played half a game* with Paul and Christopher and a production copy at Expo, I can totally agree with Matchstickman that the finished product is in no way disappointing. It looks fantastic, and I even actually quite like the card icons now after arguing against them during playtesting. It all looks and feels as good as I hoped it would and I am very excited to get my own copy.

* All I managed to do before the hordes descended and the non-stop demoing of Compounded began. Let me tell you, I can now demo that game in my sleep (and I probably did at some point).

Just assume I'm always doing that.

Can confirm (having played it at UKGE possibly more times than Christopher would have liked) is fantastic game. Possibly my current favourite, and I really can't wait to receive it.

That tears it. I'm going to have to find a way to get to a future UKGE to see you all.

I recommend swimming the Atlantic in stages, you have a whole year before the next expo.

It was at Gen Con last year.  It was 3 players and I think you ran it.  took me a while to get the hang of it, but it was awesome.

You guys are not making all this waiting I have to do until Spirit Island arrives any easier.

It's bad enough that I'm like half an hour from the port, and really want to liberate my copy from the boat and save it the trip to St. Louis and back again.

I can't, I have theater tickets to see A Chorus Line.

I'll be in Cincinnati the following weekend, though.  Does that count?
